Demon: A Memoir by Tosca Lee – My Review

However, I was disappointed with the ending. The crux of the plot and resolution of the key conflict were left hanging. Ms. Lee uses vivid images and word pictures wonderfully in this narrative but leaving the end unresolved seems to me to defeat the purpose of writing this type of novel. Despite the lack of resolution, I did find this book to be an accurate commentary on humanity and society in America. We are easily distracted and the enemy can and will use that to his advantage. I cannot recommend this as an uplifiting narrative though it does make the reader stop to consider where energies and attention are focused in our limited life-span on earth.

  1. I’m about half-way through now. It is making me think about how little time we have here…and how much I waste of it.

    Thanks for the review!

  2. Hopefully without revealing too much,

I found the ending to be perfect in that, like Lucian’s story is also about Clay, Clay’s story is also about you and me…the individual reader. I felt her ending caused me to consider more the demon’s pronouncement and Clay’s response than if it had all been wrapped up neatly, and that going this route makes the book very useful for book groups wanting to discuss it as well as a sort-of evangelistic tool.
