~Mailbox Monday~

Marcia at The Printed Page hosts this each Monday. Check out Marcia’s posts for more info and to read what other particpants are saying plus leave your own links for the current week.

Reviews will go up as I get to the books. In the meantime click bookcovers or titles to read more. Don’t forget to check out author sites too by clicking names. Most of these are review copies but I also broke down and bought an author’s second novel because I loved her first and didn’t want to wait for a library copy.

The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova
Little, Brown and Company (January 12, 2010)
(ISBN#9780316065788, 576pp, $26.99)

Go here for more information about this publisher. This is one book I couldn’t wait to get my hands on after discovering The Historian last year.

Plain Jayne (Plain & Simple #1) by Hillary Manton Lodge
Harvest House Publishers (January 1, 2010),
(ISBN#9780736926980, 300pp, $13.99)

This is Amish Fiction with a twist. Jayne escapes the stresses of city life via a trip to Amish country where her reporter’s eyes and ears are peeled for another story. Thanks to Glass Road Public Relations for a review copy of this title. Blog Tour Hosts (including Bibliophile’s Retreat) will be posting reviews on Feb 25. Oh and BTW this PR Firm is run by another wonderful author, Rebeca Seitz, who penned the fun and educational Sisters Ink series about four adopted sisters who share their trials and victories around the scrapping table in the attic of their childhood home.

Brava, Valentine by Adriana Trigiani
Harper (February 9, 2010)
(ISBN#9780061257070, 352pp, $25.99)

Trigiani is a new to me author although this is not her first novel. This work revisits the lives of characters from her January release. Thanks to the Publisher for a review copy.

The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen
Bethany House (January 1, 2010)
(ISBN#9780764207075, 448pp, $14.99)

Thanks to the Publisher for a review copy. Fellow historical fiction buffs highly recommend this author though I’ve yet to open one of her novels.

The Hidden Flame (Acts of Faith #2) by Davis Bunn and Janette Oke
Bethany House (January 1, 2010)
(ISBN#9780764207426, 400pp, $14.99)

I read the precursor to this book and look forward to this one. Thanks to the Publisher for a review copy.

Sense and Sensibility (Insight Edition) by Jane Austen

(ISBN#9780764207402, 339pp, $14.99)

Being a Jane Austen fan I just had to check this new edition out. Thanks to the Publisher for a review copy.

Spring Breakdown (Carter House Girls #7) by Melody Carlson
Zondervan (February 1, 2010)
(ISBN#9780310714941, 208pp, $9.99)

I’m looking forward to another installment in a thoroughly enjoyable series but at the same time sad to see this series rapidly approaching its final volume. Thanks to the Publisher for a review copy for the FIRST WildCard tour coming soon.

A Shore Thing by Julie Carobini

(ISBN#9780805448757, 400pp, $14.99)

  1. Adriana Trigiani is one of my favorite authors – I’ve read all her books. I’m expecting Brava Valentine (review copy) any day and can’t wait to read it (it’s the second in a series). Have a great week!

    1. I don’t usually start in mid series so I’m hoping that I won’t miss too much backstory by skipping to Brava w/o having read Very first.

  2. Wow, did you get some fabulous books or what! This will not be the last Trigiani you read, guaranteed. Her books are so wonderful. Very Valentine, the first one is so good. Enjoy all your new reads.

    1. Thanks Kathy- was hoping I didn’t jump too soon where a new author was concerned with Trigiani but I loved the Historian and I don’t care whether its vampire lore or something else historical entirely. I just like Kostova’s style and the fact that they are long books even though they still move fast.

    1. One good thing about Blog Tours is I can prioritize those books as have to read by a certain date, however it gets hard choosing between priority reads and ones i just want to read. But yes sometimes choosing the next read is tough.
