Fade to Blue by Julie Carobini – My Review

B&H Books (May 15, 2011)
Though this book focuses on Suz and Jer, Callie and Gage are very present supporting characters as they plan their wedding and of course Suz and Jer are living with Gage, welcome to stay as long as needed or wanted but Suz would like to give Gage and Callie some space to themselves as well. She manages to land a job working with restoration crews at the Hearst Castle though quickly discovers that restoration and her freespirit will soon rub each other the wrong way if she stifles the creativity that is expressing itself in her work. Jer’s father an “ex-con” supposedly on parole also makes an appearance on the scene along with Suz’s high school sweetheart Seth that she refused for Len (Jer’s father). Len is also an ex in Suz’s life outside of his relationship as Jer’s father though he seems to think he can take whatever he wants including Suz’s new found peace with life.

I enjoyed the expanded roles of characters I already knew and meeting new characters from Otter Bay and the surrounding areas except for the “bad guys” who had to be around for the sake of conflict in the plot. I wish I knew there’d be more of Otter Bay to come but in the meantime I may just have to work out a trip down to the real Otter Bay and Hearst Castle one of these days.
