Susan Hill was born in Texas, but she didn’t live there long enough to get a southern accent. Her family soon moved to Boston, but she didn’t get an eastern accent either. Fortuneately, she didn’t end up with a combination of the two.
Most of her childhood, she grew up in Ohio near the shores of Lake Erie. Here, she found a love of sailing, but also learned to play piano, twirl a baton, and ice skate among other things.
Amazingly, she survived teenhood during the tail-end of the sixties and became a follower of Jesus when she was fourteen. After high school, she attended Ohio Wesleyan University, graduating in 1977 and worked in human resource management for U.S. Bank for seven years before becoming a full-time mom. She’s also served as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship and Young Life, and currently leads an interdenominational women’s group that started ten years ago.
Susan also works as a volunteer administrator for Uganda Orphans Fund, a non-profit, NGO relief organization founded by her husband, Duncan Hill. Since 2002, UOF has built 26 different projects including orphan homes, schools and medical clinics for AIDS and war orphans in Uganda. She also serves on the Board.
Susan started writing for publication about five years ago, cutting her teeth on magazine articles. Two years ago, she took a half-written manuscript and a book proposal to a writer’s conference. A few months later WaterBrook Press, a division of Random House, offered her a contract.
Susan has been married to Duncan for nearly 30 years. Together they have three grown children and live in Montana. She still plays the piano, ice skates and sails whenever possible, but she no longer twirls a baton. Instead, she likes to write.

I have heard so many good things about this book… I would love to win it!!
A time when I tangibly felt God’s care has been just this week! On Sunday my pastor and his wife were both such an encouragement to me, and on Monday morning I was praying for them and telling the Lord how blessed I was to know them, and He whispered to me that they were just showing me *His* love and approval. Oh, how special! And what a reminder that we truly can be physical representations of our Lord as we love and reprove and exhort our fellow believers!!
God bless!

The Lord has always been so dear to me. One night I was in a partial sleep/wakefulness when I heard a male voice singing. It was beautiful. He was singing to one of my closest friends. I soon realized that it was the Lord.”Oh how wonderful that He is singing to Rhonda!” I thought. Then the singing became louder and closer. I realized that He was singing to me! I sang back with all my heart and soul. I felt my voice coming from my toes through my body with every fiber I could muster. “Open the eyes of my heart Lord, Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see You. I want to see You…” I awoke suddenly and fully. My heart was pounding and I felt overwhelming joy. Isn’t He wonderful to do something that personal and sweet?
