Beloved Counterfeit by Kathleen Y’Barbo – My Review

Barbour Publishing, Inc (May 1, 2009)
In this third installment of her Fairweather Key series the castaway and her family who have appeared on this small island community literally out of the blue become the focus of our story. Though they pretend to be mother and children, the children are related to Ruby in a far different sense. Ruby hopes to protect fragile minds and hearts from the destruction a hapless adult can wreak in their attempt to love. A wandering life was never intended for families yet Ruby and her girls have no other option if they are to keep a step or more ahead of pirates and other unsavory characters who wish them harm. Ruby and a local widower find themselves falling all too deeply for each other as he joins the island wreckers in their attempts to salvage who and whatever they can from ships who find the nearby waters and reefs a treacherous route to circumnavigate. Micah is soon to become a preacher for the island but can Ruby ever divulge the truth of the girls’ true parentage or will her reticence to be openly honest sink her only hope for a new life and escape from pirate living and sea journeys?
