Beverly Lewis move over, I have just discovered a debut author who blows the top off great writing. Within the first couple chapters Senft had me searching for the tissues and on the edge of my seat with her suspenseful writing. No this is not a crime story or a thriller but this author manages to weave in elements of suspense nonetheless without going outside the Amish culture or society for pieces that would seem out of place in their community. She writes characters that are fleshed out and appeal to Englisch readers but that I think would still ring true to someone from a plain background as well. The research seems to be thorough and the people and places authentic from my viewpoint. I am looking forward to the the continuation of Carrie, Emma, and Amelia’s stories and their quilt as Senft continues this trilogy. I also look forward to more of the supporting characters that Senft introduced in this novel that are part of their community as well. (ISBN#9780892968541, 320pp, $12.99)

Okay, now I’m the one reaching for the tissues! Thanks so much, Melissa. I’m really glad you liked the book!
You’re welcome. I love Amish fiction but so many authors begin to sound alike with as many of them as I have read. Wounded Heart is one of the few that has stood out as a unique specimen in many positive ways IMO.
