My Musings on TES:
Unlike some I didn’t have to wait for this book after I read HUI but I will have to wait for AFOFM now. Unfortunately it is a rather impatient wait on my part though I do understand that Mr Wootton is doing his best to get it to his readers as promptly as possible.

One of my favorite late comers to HUI, who got her own post last week, becomes a key player throughout the plot of this book. Turns out BTW looking at her picture she could almost be my younger sister.

Since I co-edited this book, I will be refraining from the usual comments on mechanics and technical aspects of the writing. This will focus solely on plot and characters since the edit was not related to developmental points I can focus on those without a COI.

Obviously I’ve already made my attachment to Wysteria very clear in featuring her last week and statements in both this review and my HUI review last week. However that is only one example of the intricate craftsmanship of plot, characters and descriptions Wootton has woven into his world. He has taken bits of fairytales, mythology, legend, perhaps even Shakespeare and built an entirely new epic around them with twists and turns to throw off even the most avid mystery fans.

Whatever your reading tastes desire; adventure, fantasy, suspense, romance – you’ll find it in Wootton’s #fayborn saga. Don’t forget however this is book two and it does pick up midstream of the storyline so you best start at the beginning with HUI.

Dodging unwelcome encounters with the supernatural is making Petra Godfellow’s freshman year very difficult.
Emissaries from the imprisoned Faerie Queen are looking for her. Members of the Green Kingdom Militia watch her everywhere she goes. Worst of all, servants of James Oberon keep trying to kidnap her. Meet J Aleksandr Wootton:
J. Aleksandr Wootton is the author of the Fayborn novel series and a miscellany of other writings, many of which are available on various sites around the web.
He is also professor of folklore at Lightfoot College. His research focuses mainly on post-war Faerie, and on accounts of meetings between humans and sojourning fay.
He enjoys cooking, gardening, and long conversations accompanied by a well-brewed pint.
